Business Card Printing Trends

People have been handing out japanese business cards for decades and the overall style hasn't really changed much over the years. Recently, though, in an attempt to make their cards stand out in a crowded field, people have been taking more creative approaches to these cards. Today, you're likely to see cards in different shapes, with different design choices, and printed on different materials.

Rounded edges are one such shaping trend. This subtle difference creates a softer look that plays with the traditional approach, but doesn't deviate too far from it. In addition to text, a lot of cards now incorporate color imagery. You'll also see more cards printed on plastic.

While there are many new trends in business cards, some things remain true of the best designs. For most people, a card that deviates from the standard 2 inch by 3.5 inch shape is unwieldy and unwelcome. This size is easy to put in a wallet and store in a rolodex, which is where business cards usually end up. Also, cards made of non-traditional material, like metal, aren't generally considered a good idea. The idea of using unexpected materials is intriguing, but is often just more trouble (and expense) than it is worth and may seem like trying too hard.

Whatever material you use, the design is still key. A good card makes all the relevant information, including what type of business you run and who you are, easy to take in. A good design includes imagery that is relevant to the business and text that is easy to read.

Some people also like to include not only the name of their business, but why people should want to hire them. You might want to include something that tells people you carry a wide selection of products, for example, or that you've won some particular award. It's important to remember, though, that a business card isn't a pamphlet, so keep the text to a minimum.

If you use paper cards, make sure to use high quality stock and professional business card printing nyc. While it may seem like a good idea to save some money and print cards yourself, or use a cheaper card-stock, these shortcuts will show. Cards you print yourself will run when they get wet and have rough edges from the perforation. Homemade cards and those professionally printed on inferior stock will be flimsy, crease easily, and feel light. People can tell, just by the way a card feels, whether you've invested any money or effort into your cards and this will seriously affect how they view your business. A cheap business card implies that you don't care enough to invest in quality products.
